one more night of Revenge, the Dynasty-cum-Hamptons-esque tv drama sans the catfights and shoulder pads. Just like back in the days, i've been watching it religiously since season one just to get a glimpse at one of the many brits in the show. I think it's the only american show i know where the english actors outnumber the yankees, and they're so good at playing with an american accent.

i am terribly missing Thomas and James, Downton Abbey's handsome footmen downstairs. It hasn't been that long since the third season has kept me hanging on a cliff, but i am hoping that it would lead me to believe that their complex relationship does not become the ill-fated one that Matthew and Mary had.
i thought that all along Thomas Barrow was the trouble-maker and James Kent was the one to be messed with. Thomas was more of the provocateur and James was more of the flirty one, shamelessly and irresponsibly. Thomas knew how to set a trap and James knew how to get out of it. Thomas and James knew how to push each other's buttons. Until later, it was Jimmy who helped Thomas show he has a heart. it was easy to blame Thomas with his bad boy attitude but are we forgetting the society of that time itself? Is it not the environment that we are surrounded with that make us the way we are? "so you have society condemning anything to do with homosexuality, describing it as foul and twisted — and if society's being negative and aggressive toward you, I think it's only human nature to maybe react to that, as a defense mechanism, and be aggressive back toward society." - Rob James-Collier on his character as Thomas Barrow. i cannot wait until the next season of Downton Abbey's turn of the century bespoke fashion, the sumptuous decor, the Maggie Smith high society snobbery and most of all Thomas' and James' are they or aren't they? and maybe as i watch the next season's episodes, i'll have some Bartles and James wine cooler handy next to me. - xoxo i am not a roman catholic but i the idea of conclave both truly fascinates and intruiges me more than our country's current sequester situation.
this is not the first time a pope has resigned. It goes way back as early as the first century. It was little known because during the time, christianity was an illegal religion in the roman empire. Pontian was the first pope to resign. He found out he was going to be deported to a prison on the island of Sardinia and then he resigned to avoid imprisonment. Crazy! the next one happened towards the end of the 13th century. The cardinals were deadlocked and decided to go outside the conclave and elected a hermit! For reason being that he'll come into rome, he'll clean up and they can then move forward in a spiritual manner. And guess what? He gets eaten by the court and resigned after four months. Wow! the drama never ends! the third one was Gregory XII in the 14th century during which there were three popes at the time of the great schism. It was said that he had the best claim to be the legitimate pope, but he decides to metaphorically "fall on his sword." and it has been years since we entered the 21st century and the excitement continues. During the last conclave after pope john paul's death, i was working at a contemporay showroom along with another co-worker. We could not do any work on the floor because we were glued to the tv monitor waiting for what the smoke would look like coming out of the sistine chapel. Is it black? Is it white? Do we have a new pope? It happened for days and it was exhilarating. It was almost like watching a very long award show, "and the oscar goes to..." it is our human race's chronological connection to the past that sometimes made me wonder, i might have been born in the wrong century because i am drawn to their scandals that were even more notorious than of the present day. some of us would think that we have made some progress throughout the centuries and some of us would think only a little, but who knows what it would be like centuries from now (if there would be any conclave). stay tuned... dear taylor,
it wasn't long ago when the world first saw you as little known country singer on America's Got Talent. I still remember when you walked down the stage with your guitar, you were wearing some nondescript knee-length dress with cowboy boots. I questioned your fashion choices back then. now you made it on the coveted front cover of the latest issue of Vanity Fair. Completely made-over. Working it with all those high end designerware. From cowgirl to couture. then all of the sudden you said, "There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women." Why taylor swift? Why? What do need a help on yourself besides your critically-acclaimed acting skill? How dare you talked like that to your mentors Tina Fey and Amy Poehler? They were the ones who honed your comedic debut on SNL (i think they forgot about your cameo with your former Tay-Tay on Valentine's Day). Just look at Lindsay Lo. everybody knows that it was only a joke when Tina and Amy said that you stay away from Michael J. Fox's son. Everybody, except you. You were not being a sport, taylor. Was it because the camera caught your face turned sour when you lost the Golden Globe to Adelle? And it's Adelle we're talking about for heaven's sake! You just cannot compare! a lot of people would agree that your voice is not that phenomenal. It is still as shaky and pitchy as it was early on your music career. It does not matter how many songs you write about your ex's and your quasi-love life, one or one thousand, did you ever realize that you are the common denominator on all your failed relationships? so when you said those words taylor, those words - it's a sign of diva on the rise. Do feel your head getting bigger it might just explode? It better not and it won't be pretty when it does. You are going to need that head when you want to look back where you started from - AGT. you're not quite there yet because watch out! Carly Rae Jepsen has all the homies behind her! Yours truly, Trouble, Trouble so i have been idea shopping for my future retirement home in palm springs. And where did i go? i drove to the desert and sucked in all the gayness i could take at the palm springs modernism show. I was glad i wore my flats because there was so much eye candies to behold and i did not go home empty-headed. do ask, do tell...mmm...
when the handsome Matthew Crawley fearlessly fought the war in Burberry trenchcoat on the series Downton Abbey, he eventually won the heart of the lovely Lady Mary. Timeless yet modern, these commanding couture definitely won my heart. Those buttons, those toggles, those buckles, double-stitching, top stitching. I go ga-ga over details. And what's an icy red carpet this sunday without men in hot uniform? Fashion anarchy! (sans sasha baron cohen!) i slyly used to think that valentine's day was just one big conspiracy to make single people look even more miserable. But my sour attitude toward this red letter day changed after three years of working in a flower shop. Forget all the retail rudeness and take it from me: people are at their happiest during this one single day of the year. I liked to get out of the flower shop during this day simply just to drive around and look inside people's home as i thoroughly redecorate them inside my head. When each door opens i meet different kinds of faces - surprised, confused, embarassed, elated, shy, speechless, the list could go on. Aaah, the joy and pain of falling in love, being in love and being loved. I have enjoyed it and i can honestly say i would do it again. as a single-but-not-bitter i share this sentiment to all the hopeless romantics: to the ones who had never been kissed; to the socially awkwards; to the scotch-taped eyeglass wearing nerds in high school; to the boy-crazy and to the girl-crazy; and to the boy who finally gets the girl (or boy) at the end of the two-hour movie. happy love... so i am breaking the ten commandments and where is oprah when you need her for her favorite things? I wish i had her O-power where everything can just magically appear in my walk-in closet as i mention, PRAAADAAA!. And everyone else shrieks in the highest pitch!
...getting to see the original fashion sketches for "2001 Space Odyssey" up close and personal - a stanley kubrik's retrospective at lacma.
on my latest design trek i spotted these substantially studded stacking chanel trunks that i went agog and bought for a whopping ten bucks!
